How ABA is Used for Autism

ABA Technician Training

Basically these trained technicians are paraprofessionals who implement ABA therapy under the supervision of a certified behavior analyst. Becoming an ABA technician involves training in ABA techniques, ethics, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

The ABAT credential from the Qualified ABA Credentialing Board provides formal certification for ABA techs. Key requirements are:

  • 40 hours of ABA coursework
  • 15 hours of supervised fieldwork
  • Competency assessment
  • Passing the ABAT exam

Eventually this comprehensive training covers the principles, techniques, and applications of ABA therapy to prepare trainees to provide ethical and effective services as ABA technicians.
